I have always had an interest in sports and fitness, and was an active gym member for over 10 years in England, attending various fitness and exercise classes.

Being a keen runner, I initially entered some fun runs, progressing to half marathons, and in 1998 ran my first full marathon. I wanted to do some alternative events, so decided triathlon would be fun. I entered numerous short sprint events and moved up to Olympic distance triathlons, and completed in my first half Iron man Triathlon in 2003; a 2.5km open water swim, an 80km cycle and a 20 km run.

My wife, I and our four cats moved from England to Winnipeg in 2004. I am certified with Can-Fit-Pro as a Personal Trainer and Nutrition and Wellness Specialist. A certified Functional Diagnostic Nutritionist and a NESTA Lifestyle and Weight Management Specialist.

In June 08 I competed in The Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in San Francisco and regularly enter into local running and Triathlon events.

My passion is to help people reach their individual health goals, whether it is to lose weight, just get fitter, prepare for a sporting event, recover from an injury , etc, etc. Everyone has different goals and no two people want the same thing. I strive to offer a "personal" service with constant contact, keep in touch with each and everyone of my clients and make sure they are getting the most from their structured exercise programs and nutritional support.

My perspective on good nutrition is not the "traditional" approach, which I have found from my own experiences and research to be flawed and is really what is making people overweight and sick. The basis of my nutrition plan is to support good health, tissue repair and the longevity of life, with a great deal of emphasis on reducing inflammation in the body.

Having good health is the most important thing in life!

Richard.
